A Mid 18th Century French Provincial Walnut Commode with Original Grey Marble Top of Small Proportions. This two drawer, walnut commode was conceived in the late rococo manner by a provincial maker in France. The original overhanging grey marble top has a serpentine front edge. This in turn echoes the shape of the apron to the base of the piece. The marble top is of very fine quality with a deeply carved edge moulding. The piece has also acquired a nice patination with plenty of variation in colour. Standing on restrained cabriole legs with stylised hoof feet. Having panelled sides and carving to the pilasters.
