Chest of drawers hand-made in England in the early 1800s using mahogany. The chest features eight drawers: a large central on at the top framed by two smaller drawers on each side, and three larger drawers on the bottom three rows. All drawers are inset and show beautiful, hand-made dovetail joints, as well the original handles (the central drawer handle is missing the backplate). The front of the case is decorated with cross-banded veneer, providing a beautiful contrast between the grain of the drawer fronts and the case. The front corners of the case are decorated with a carved column. The chest still sits on its hand-carved acorn feet. The top is a single board of mahogany with rounded edges and the sides are flat. Overall this is a large, elegant chest of drawers that can provide plenty of storage space as well as decoration. The drawers work well and can be used on a daily basis
