A French Louis XVI style chest, with its original marble top, from the 19th century. This antique commode from France, designed in Louis XVI style, houses three full-sized drawers, and is topped with the original marble top. The front and rear side posts are all carved with a series of flute carvings, which line up nicely with the drawers set at front. The drawers are each fitted with brass ring pulls and bow-tied theme escutcheons within their centers. This piece is presented upon four squared and tapering legs. The marble is a delightful swirl of black, grey, and white. The finish has been striped down to the natural wood grain at some point (before it arrived with us). This Louis XVI style French chest is a cute sized piece; versatile enough to work in just about any room you choose, be it a bedroom, living room, foyer, or office!
