A French Neoclassical commode, with black marble top and brass accents, from the 19th century. This antique chest from France features a rectangular-shaped marble top, with pronounced rounded corners at front, which rests atop a neoclassical case with rounded and fluted side posts (wrapped with brass band accents at top) which flank four drawers (a pair of half-sized drawers atop two full-sized drawers below). Each of the dove-tailed drawers are outlined with brass trim, and fitted with a pair of brass rectangular bail-pulls, and a minimalist escutcheon keyhole at their centers. This commode is presented upon conical legs with brass trim at their bulbous tops and terminating into brass peg feet. This piece has a custom midnight blue wash (dark coal/navy) which allows the brass trim to really pop. The marble is black with white and grey veining.
