A hand-painted raised two-drawer French chest from the 19th century. This antique chest from France is decorated in a hand-painted urn and Griffin motif about the front and sides. The rectangular-shaped top sits above a case which houses two full-sized drawers, a clean/linear skirt, and is raised upon four squared legs that taper gently to their feet. The hand-painted finish is not original; the body and top have a primarily light blue color (with areas that allow the wood grain to show through from beneath), and accent trimmings are in a navy blue color. This 19th century French Neoclassical raised chest will make a lovely and functional storage addition, perfect for a bedroom, powder room, or entry foyer.
