stunning, finely detailed transitional Louis XV - Louis XVI style, mahogany inlaid chest of drawers commode. Born in France durning the second half of the 19th century, the wonderfully handcrafted antique has two generous size dovetailed drawers with original brass beaded round pulls, the case extensively inlaid with whimsical foliate floral marquetry, burled geometric parquetry, delicate cross banding and string inlay, fitted with fine gilt bronze ormolu mounts, cabriole legs with gilt bronze sabots and original marble top. A shipping label, likely the original from the cabinet maker, is intact on top of the case. In addition to a dresser it could be used as a server, console table, credenza or sideboard buffet. Circa 1870 Cleaned, polished, waxed and ready for immediate use.
