A scarce Spanish chicaranda rosewood bombe chest of drawers commode. circa 1850 Born in the 19th century, the oversized chest's silhouette a wonderful mix of clean, straight lines and curvilinear, bulbous form, having a rectangular shaped top, over the solid wood case fitted with five drawers, all with attractive marquetry-work. Featuring two concealed drawers, and three large spacious drawers with curvaceous shaped drawer fronts, flanked by simple, unadorned serpentine columns. Isabelina style, this distinctive chest dates from the reign of Isabel II (Queen of Spain; 1833-1868) detailing. Dimensions (approx): 39.5"h, 45"w, 23"d Nicely aged, with beautiful patina over the whole, rich, lustrous highly figured chicaranda rosewood, with warm hues, and striking grain detail. Solid, sturdy, stable and durable. Wear and tear consistent with age and use, including some scratches, chips, nicks, or other antique character marks, that does not detect from the display, but only adds to the overall rustic warmth, historical depth, and European old world charm. Delivered cleaned, hand waxed with polished French patina finish, ready for immediate use, and many more years of enjoyment.
