A stylish Biedermeier commode with a pedimented front and recessed panels enlivening the front profile. Free standing columns at the outset front corners support the architectural pedimented top. There are four drawers (three with brass ring handles). The lowest, the fourth one, is cleverly concealed in the plinth. The primary timber is figured birch with interesting patterning reminiscent of tiger maple, on pine secondary wood. Northern European, possibly Swedish or provincial Baltic in origin. Good restored antique condition with signs of age and wear: some small restorations to the veneer, worming to the lower portions of the feet. French polished and waxed finish. Ca. 1830.
