Dauler, Close, & Johns hand painted dresser, American, Pittsburgh, PA, early 20th century. Solid mahogany five drawer dresser with lacquered black ground and polychrome hand painted floral and foliate details. The hand painting was done by noted Pittsburgh, PA designer Louis Talotta's sourced artist. Plaque on interior of upper right drawer reads 'Dauler, Close, & Johns Furniture, Pittsburg, PA'. 32 x 57.5 x 27 inches. Provenance: Purchased by Mrs. William Lewis c.1930. Later, her granddaughter Mrs. Arthur Scully, Jr. commissioned Mr. Talotta's artist to hand paint the designs.
