Edmond Spence Vintage Swedish Mid Century Modern Highboy Dresser C. 1960s, Attributed

Chairish

$2,495

This 1960s Edmond Spence highboy dresser is a striking example of Swedish mid century modern design, built in warm walnut with a bold, graphic presence. The two-section case pairs an upper cabinet of book-matched doors with a bank of drawers whose fronts are laid up in Spence's signature woven, checkerboard pattern, alternating blocks of vertical and horizontal grain that catch the light from every angle. The entire piece is raised on tall, square tapered legs, giving the substantial form a light, architectural stance. The upper cabinet opens on a pair of doors to a fitted interior with shaped vertical dividers, ideal for folded sweaters, bags, or display, while four graduated drawers below offer generous everyday storage. Each drawer rides on dovetailed solid-wood boxes and is fitted with recessed wooden inset pulls that keep the woven facade clean and uninterrupted. The tall, narrow footprint makes the most of vertical space in a bedroom, dressing room, or entry, and the matched walnut grain ties the cabinet, drawers, and legs into one cohesive sculptural whole. Dimensions: 48.25" H x 41.25" W x 19.75" D SKU: MCM-0634 Unmarked.
