A substantial and well-proportioned English Victorian mahogany tall chest of drawers, mid-19th century.The chest features five graduated drawers veneered in richly figured mahogany with warm flame figuring across the drawer fronts. The drawers retain their original locks (no keys present) and are fitted with period brass swan-neck hardware; one upper drawer retains its original brass backplate but is lacking the swinging bail handle. The chest rests on a plinth base with shaped bracket feet and retains its original backboards.The restrained architectural form, moulded edge top and clean vertical lines make this a versatile and handsome example of Victorian English case furniture. The scale — over four and a half feet high and fifty inches wide — gives it strong presence while remaining practical for modern interiors.Condition:Good with wear consistent with age and use, including surface wear, wood cracks to top boards, edge chips, staining and one absent drawer pull.
