Stunning and rare collaboration between Harvey Probber and Arpad Rosti. This piece has been completely refinished to perfection including the matte white drawer fronts of the interior. This grand and stunning Harvey Probber design is elevated with the addition of the decorative enameled door fronts created by artist Arpad Rasti.Arpad Rosti is best known for his remarkably inventive lamps, trays and vessels designed in organic, free form shapes. He was a highly versatile artist, equally at home in both the ceramics and enameling fields. Throughout the 1950s and early 1960s, Rosti produced enamel panels for the New York-based furniture designer Harvey Probber. These panels, with their abstract floral designs influenced by the paintings and mural decorations of Henri Matisse, were incorporated into Probber’s modernist designs as tabletops and sliding doors for sideboards and credenzas. These pieces are extremely hard to come by as they were of limited production.
