Dimensions: 34 ⅜” H x 35 ¾” W x 17” D A rare example from the atelier of furniture maker Fidelis Schey circa 1780, made in Paris. The demilune commode is topped with dark, Saint Anne marble that is shaped specifically to match the curves and breakfront in the mahogany cabinetry below. The main body of the piece offers three small drawers opened with brass ring pulls, framed by fluted pilasters and reeded brass panels. Fluting and brass accents extend down through the taped legs to form a balanced and cohesive work of art. Stamped into the wood under the marble slab is “F. SCHEY,”, while a sticker in the top drawer also identifies the maker. Please view all the detailed images to see more.
