A French Neoclassical painted wood commode from the 19th century. This antique chest from France features a simple, clean design aesthetic, with rectangular-shaped top, resting above a case fitted with three plain front and graduated drawers, each fitted with a pair of wreathed ring pulls and a wreath with bow-tie escutcheon at their center. The chest is raised upon spaded legs at front with straight rear legs. The wood has a light grey wash over it (which still allows much of the wood grain to show through from beneath) and a dark grey accent trim. This 19th century French Neoclassic commode would work really well in a bedroom as a dresser, or perhaps a great functional storage piece for a hallway or study.
