A French Neoclassical commode with four drawers and marble top from the 19th century. This antique chest from France features a rectangular-shaped marble top, over the case which houses three drawers, designed in clean and linear lines with straight skirt, and presented upon paw carved feet. The three graduated drawers are adorned with their original hardware; a pair of brass lion's head ring pulls and escutcheon keyhole at center. The top drawer has dividers, which give it three sections. The black marble is complimented with a newer light grey finish on the wood. Everything is original to this piece, with the exception of the painted finish. Please note that there are some chips in the marble, and that the bottom rail has a little ding in it at front center (see additional images for more detail).
