A French Neoclassical raised chest of two drawers, with its original hardware, from the 19th century. This antique commode from France features a rectangular-shaped top, over a case which houses two full-sized drawers, flanked within fluted front side posts, and having recessed paneled sides. This case piece is raised upon four slender and rounded legs which gently taper towards their feet. The drawer fronts are fitted with their original brass hardware, consisting of a pair of rectangular pulls with single shield-shaped escutcheon at their center. The medium wood tone has a lovely patina. This antique French Neoclassical raised chest would be a beautiful addition to a bedroom, or perhaps in a foyer or living area with decorative items atop and storage within.
