A Swedish Gustavian style wood chest from the turn of the 19th and 20th century. This antique chest from Sweden, in typical Gustavian style, features a simple, clean design with a slightly overhanging top, whose front corners have an angular/cut-shape to mimic the canted front side-posts beneath. The case houses three graduated drawers, each fitted with a pair of brass ring pulls and an escutcheon at their center. The chest is raised upon squared, tapered feet, with front feet being canted, a continuation of the design from above, and straight pair in the back. The wood has a scraped finish, allowing much of the lovely wood grain to show through, and giving this piece a soft, neutral and feminine presence. This Swedish Gustavian style chest has really nice proportions, and would be a beautiful & functional storage piece practical for just about any room in the home!
