A five-drawer chest of drawers in the transitional style (louis xv/louis xvi), veneered with marquetry and light wood stringing. the sides feature symmetrical herringbone veneer, typical of late 18th or early 19th-century french cabinetmaking. The top is red marble veined with white and gray. The upper corners are adorned with gilt bronze mounts in neoclassical motifs; the tapered legs terminate in bronze sabots. The drawer interiors and the back reveal heavily aged raw wood, with cracks and darkening attesting to its age, probably between 1800 and 1850.
