This 1960s Young Manufacturing highboy dresser is a strongly sculptural example of American mid century modern design, built in walnut as a two tier chest with a flared, overhanging crown. The upper cabinet is faced with carved panels, each one pierced by a sculpted bowtie shaped cutout that serves as its pull, creating a bold graphic rhythm across the front. Below, three long drawers carry deeply carved oval recessed pulls, and the case rests on splayed legs joined by a shaped, curving stretcher that echoes the sculptural language above. The upper doors open to reveal a fitted bank of four drawers, well suited to accessories, folded shirts, and smaller items, while the three full width lower drawers handle bulkier everyday storage.
