Mid 20th Century Ficks Reed Type Bamboo/rattan Glass Top End Table

Chairish

$275

This 1950's era vintage-style rattan and glass end table features a distinctive lattice pattern top and sturdy bamboo legs. It is constructed from natural rattan and bamboo with a glass top insert. Associated with mid-century modern, bohemian, or tropical interior design, this style of table is often attributed to mid-century designers like Henry Olko or makers such as Ficks Reed. There is no discernable maker's mark on this piece therefore we cannot say with 100% certainty that this is a Ficks Reed piece. However, other means of authentication were used. We looked at the construction methods of Ficks Reed tables and found this one to meet authenticated standards. The provided close-up picture of the upper part of a leg shows the textbook sculptural wrapped binder cane joints found on 1950s Ficks Reed pieces. Notice how the wide, flat wrapping securely bundles multiple thick structural rattan strands. An "AI" search of the provided close-up states; "The wrapped joints in your image are a hallmark of high-quality vintage rattan furniture and are characteristic of authentic pieces from makers like Ficks Reed. Authentic vintage bamboo and rattan furniture, particularly pieces designed by John Wisner for Ficks Reed in the 1950s, feature distinct wrapped binder cane joints. These wraps are not just decorative; they are functional, providing structural integrity to the connections between bamboo poles." This iconic bamboo table is a lucky, rare find for a collector of vintage 1950's craftmanship and bamboo furniture by strictly American makers. This table is 26.5 " wide, 21" tall, and 20" in depth.
