Extendable Table By G. Nelson For Herman Miller, 1960s

Chairish

$3,527

Dining/conference table model 5559B, designed by George Nelson for Herman Miller beginning in the 1950s. The frame is made of white lacquered die-cast aluminum, with three-spoke pedestal legs that provide stability and visual lightness. The rectangular top, made of white laminate with exposed wood edge, combines essentiality and sophistication, typical of the American modernist language. The model originated as a "Pedestal Extension Table," originally equipped with extenders that could be pulled out and stored under the main table top. Even in compact configuration, it retains a strong formal impact and great functionality, ideal as both a conference and dining table. The code "5559B" is stamped into the leg casting, a detail consistent with the original Herman Miller production. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
