Hard to find antique American cherry dropleaf Pembroke table with a cross stretcher base and 1 drawer. Drawer is hand dovetailed as expected on a late 18th century piece. Nicely tapered and chamfered legs with cross stretcher supports which were rarely used. Table was refinished years ago and a couple of minor repairs made, mainly to the rule joint as can be seen in the 4th photo. The brass Chippendale style pull is not original, this in most cases would have been a simple brass bail pull. There is a very thin age line running in the center of the top. This can be seen in the last photo. There are some other signs of discoloration and surface scratches consistent with use and age. Table is 18 1/2" wide when closed and 33" deep and it stands 27 1/4" tall. With the 8 3/4" deep leaves both up the top is 33" by 35". Just to put this in perspective, George Washington was President when this table was new!
