This is an outstanding Queen Anne Rectangular Drop-Leaf Table by American furniture makers Banks, Coldstone Co., best known for handcrafting premium, high-end replicas of 18th and 19th-century European and American antique styles. Extremely robust and exquisitely built from solid mahogany, composed of three solid, unjoined boards: one at the top centre and two dropping on each side. The cabriole legs, ending in claw-and-ball feet, have delightful proportions. When extended, the leaves are held by pieces of wooden slide rails hidden in the core of the table; this system avoids the need for extra legs, as most of the other drop-leaf tables do, so the symmetry is not broken when the leaves are down.
