This beautiful antique grainsack is continuous in length, making it a 107” long piece. It is made of homespun linen and hemp with a herringbone weave and two gorgeous red stripes running down the center. It is hemmed on both sides of the width. Beautiful Farmhouse style suitable for upholstery projects etc. These wonderful, often worn treasures of time were used for storing and hauling grains. Grain sacks were handmade from long linen bolts that were painstakingly handwoven. It took the average weaver 1 night to weave 60 centimeters ( 24 inches) of this lovely fabric.
