Offered is a vintage 1970s burnished and hand-painted glazed ceramic toucan figurine from Tonalá in Jalisco, Mexico. The province is famed for its earth-tone clay and for all the pottery and ceramic art created since the 1950s. It features a bird and flower motif on the back and the signature broad stroke agave plant leaves on the front chest, typical of the region, as are the colors - beige, brown, sky blue, indigo, black, green, yellow, and mauve - made from natural tints native to the area.
