Traveling Man Treasures is selling this exquisite Italian hand-carved alabaster bust of Antinous, dating to the Grand Tour Era (late 19th century). This elegantly carved bust depicts the head and upper torso of Antinous posed in a downward gaze. The bust is widely known as “The Capitoline Antinous,” modeled after the full-standing Ancient Roman marble statue discovered at Roman Emperor Hadrian's Villa, Tivoli, during excavations (c. 1720s). This is a wonderful alabaster bust and is fixed on an alabaster socle base. Additionally, the underside of the bust is marked with a stylized "C". The bust has some minor chipping around the edges as noted in the photos; overall age related wear as expected. DIMENSIONS: 10.75" H x 7.5" W x 5.5" D
