This decorative pair of soapstone carvings depicts traditionally dressed figures of a man and woman. The woman is dressed in ornate robes, and she is holding a fan. The man is a fisherman, dressed in simple robes, and he is carrying his catch of fish.Both figures are of a similar size and proportion and are each carved from the same pale green jade coloured soapstone, mounted onto carved dark russet soapstone bases, each of a different design.This pleasing pair of figures is both in very good condition with no damage.Chinese, circa 1900Height 15cm x width 9cm x depth 7cm.Please let us know if you need any further information and photographs
