Antique early 20th century Chinese Qing monochrome porcelain turquoise glaze Guanyin or Kwan Yin by Pān Zhàotáng mounted on French bronze base. The mark on the back is a Chinese seal script, a type of ancient Chinese calligraphy. The characters in the seal script are 潘肇唐 for Pān Zhàotáng, a Chinese porcelain artist active during the late Qing and early Republic periods, roughly corresponding to the 1910s and 1920s. His work is considered highly collectible within the context of Republic-period ceramics and signed pieces are rare. With the bronze base measures 12 1/2" tall overall x 10 1/2" wide x 9 5/8" front to back. Porcelain figure alone measures 10 1/2" tall x 7" wide x 6" front to back. Good condiiton - foot cleanly reattached. Formerly used as a table lamp.
