This faience figural group was produced in Bologna, Italy by Aurelio Minghetti in the early 1900s. This piece was sold by the retailer “Carbone” of Boston, who handled European imports from about 1910 to 1920. It measures 16 inches high, 9 1/2 inches wide, and 8 inches deep. It is well well-modeled and hand-painted. The garments on the Madonna have colorful details. There is a feeling of serenity and ancient Mediterranean tradition in the piece. It displays beautifully in the round. Condition is excellent, with no restorations or breaks. Note: This piece weighs 8 1/2 pounds unpacked.
