Lomonosov Mid-Century Hand-Painted Porcelain Figure Of A Bulldog

A delightful mid-century Russian hand-painted porcelain figure of a seated Bulldog on a plinth with an inscription around the base by Lomonosov and dated 1963. The well modelled figure of a large bulldog sits raised on an oval integral base with an unglazed foot and sits with his rear paws folded to one side, the tail resting on the base and with his head facing slightly to one side and with ears raised. The bulldog wearing a leather studded collar is well detailed and proportioned and has nicely defined facial details with hand painted features and body in tones of brown with the base and paws finished in a white glazed with a gilded rim around the base. The base has an inscription around the top edge along with a date 1963. The figure has a blue printed underglaze Lomonosov mark to the base. Provenance: from a collection of dog figures acquired through the UK Art Market.In good condition with light wear associated with age and use.
