Cast with graceful proportions and intricate detail, this bronze figure of a princely warrior is a lovely example of traditional metalwork of Thailand. The cast bronze figure depicts a mythical warrior dressed in royal regalia, wearing ornate, gilded robes, bejweled ornaments and a tall, conical headdress known as the Great Crown of Victory. Eyes downcast in a peaceful expression, he sits at ease with a relaxed posture, his left hand resting upon his knee and his right holding his sword upwards. The bronze surface is richly aged with an antique patina, textured by verdigris oxidation and traces of the original gilded finish of the robes.
