This is an outstanding pair of antique French gilt bronze chenets from the mid 1800s. The cherubs rest upon decadent platforms composed of thick C-Scrolls and volutes adorned with acanthus foliage, swags, bell flowers, and a beaded edge. Both cherubs have their hands raised towards the fireplace. These wonderful French gilt bronze cherub chenets are typical of the Louis XV and Napoleon III taste, and they will draw the eye anywhere they are placed. The chenets can also be re-purposed into lamps or used as elegant standalone accessories on a buffet or table or as originally intended beside a mantle
