16.35 Aspen Trunk sculptural floor lamp by BocciDimensions: D 122 x W 265 x H 712 cm Materials: Poured glass, electrical components, bead-blasted stainless steel armature components. Lamping: 1.5w LED (52.5w total draw). Nondimmable. Available in different finishes, colors, and sizes. All our lamps can be wired according to each country. If sold to the USA it will be wired for the USA for instance. The 16.35 is a tree-like 16 installation using thirty-five pendants and amodular stainless steel armature system mounted to a seven-tube stainlesssteel ‘aspen’ base. These trees are designed to be grouped into forestlike assemblies of a variety of different sizes and types but are strongcompositional elements on their own. Installation of these trees is complex andBocci recommends a structural consultant to assess the viability of the systemin the context in which it is to be installed. Installation requires anchoringinto either an existing structural slab or a newly built foundation to meet thespecifications of the design drawings, including appropriate drainage if exposed to water and remotely mounted LED drivers.16 is formed by sequentially pouring three separate layers of colored, moltenglass – in varying opacities – on a horizontal plane. Each layer responds to theindeterminate shape of the previous pour to create a uniquely layered whole. Two of these pieces are then attached and illuminated with an internal LEDlamp. The fi nished 16 is visually complex: each separate color layer is visiblethrough the other layers, with light refl ecting along the edges. All trees are rated for outdoor (or indoor) use based on structural analysis formoderately sheltered locations near seawater with minimal snow loads. Anyother application restraints may need further engineering.Bocci is a design and manufacturing company based in Vancouver and Berlin. Founded in 2005 under the creative directorship of Omer Arbel, Bocci is committed to fostering a lateral and open-ended relationship between creative direction and craft. The company launched with one lighting design, ‘14’, which became an instant classic and remains a design staple and bestseller. Bocci’s growing portfolio of sculptural lighting is developed, engineered, and fabricated in-house, through an infrastructure calibrated to provide full control over technique, quality, and scale. In 2015, Bocci transformed a historic Berlin building into a showroom and archive. ‘Bocci 79’ inhabited a 2,200 m² / 23,600 sq ft former courthouse, constructed in 1896, and showcased over a decade of works by Omer Arbel, ranging from pieces in progress, prototypes, and ideas, to the complete range of catalog pieces developed for Bocci.Bocci 79 closed in June 2020 and we are currently working on our new, permanent Berlin showroom which will open soon.
