He was responsible for many of the most inspirational interior design commissionsduring ‘Les Trente Glorieuses’, including major airports and the Paris metro. He is perhaps the one person who singlehandedly created many of the models for French design, with his great capacity for formal invention, and sober yet daring style, being emblematic of French creativity of the twentieth century. His rigor and exacting style earned him many titles and honors. After studying engineering, Pierre Disderot opened his first studio in 1948. His collaboration with the young avant-garde designers, Pierre Guariche, JosephAndré Motte, Alain Richard, and Michel Mortier, led him to create what is today considered to be the best lighting of the nineteen fifties. His aesthetic abilities and knowledge allowed him to design an important part of the Disderot catalog, revealing, beyond the publisher, an artist of the first-order.
