The Globlow Floor Lamp was designed in 1996 by Vesa Hinkola, Markus Nevalainen, and Rane Vaskivuori for the Finnish design collective Snowcrash. The lamp consists of a steel rod base, a parachute-grade nylon shade, and a 12W computer fan that inflates the shade when the lamp is switched on. The design was inspired by stylized depictions of light in comic books and combines industrial components with lightweight materials. Globlow is part of the permanent collections of institutions such as MoMA and the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Original components intact. Minor signs of use to the nylon lampshade.
