Wonderful Mid-Century floor or even table lamp in bamboo and rattan. This wonderful piece was made in Italy in the 1960s in the style of Louis Sognot. The outer structure is made up of six bamboo and rattan bamboo stems and contains a cylindrical shade in white and brown cotton that shrink in the center. The effect of this cone shape on the diffusion of light is breathtaking. This item is perfect for a mid-century ethnic or tiki living room or bedroom or French Riviera porch. To be wired Louis Sognot was a French designer best known for his elegant furniture made from a combination of rattan and wood. Sognot was influenced by Art Deco and Cubist aesthetics, giving his work a unique stylistic flair while also being usable. Born on May 25, 1892 in Paris, France, Sognot studied at the École Bernard-Pablissy before working as a designer at the Au Printemps department store in Paris in 1919. The designer went on to become a founding member of the Union des Artistes Decoroteurs. He died in 1970 in Paris, France.
