Designed by Elio Martinelli for Martinelli Luce in 1965, the Serpente floor lamp is a well-known example of Italian modern lighting design. This vintage version features a chrome-plated metal base and stem, combined with a white methacrylate diffuser. The lamp is characterized by its curved form and rotating shade, which allows the direction of the light to be adjusted. Produced in Italy, the Serpente reflects the experimentation with organic forms and synthetic materials that defined much of the design language of the 1960s. Original chrome-finished examples are less commonly encountered than contemporary white editions.
