GUBI’s Tynell 9602 floor lamp was created by Finnish lighting designer Paavo Tynell, who designed this delicate masterpiece back in 1935 for the Hotel Aulanko in Hämeenlinna. The 9602 lamp, also known as the Chinese Hat, features a wide, conical canvas shade inspired by traditional Asian sun hats, and a slender rattan-covered stem, elegantly complemented by brass accents on the base as well as on top of the lampshade. The 9602 lamp exudes a gentle and invitingly warm light, showcasing Tynell’s remarkable ability to play with the artistic dimensions of light and balance various elements harmoniously. Originally produced by the Finnish company Oy Taito Ab, the luminaire is now part of the Paavo Tynell collection under the Danish design brand GUBI. The linen fabric of the lampshade has been produced in collaboration with the French textile brand Garro Éditions. The elegant look features Henry Moore's delicate illustrations of circus horses drawn in black lines, waiting to take to the stage.
