At the end of the 1970s Zanotta embarked on a new avenue of research aimed at identifying and recovering from the past objects of anonymous origin, “already seen,” but to be revisited and re-proposed in a contemporary key. with this in mind, in 1978 Zanotta proposed to Marco Zanuso to deal with the redesign of a “familiar” folding outdoor chair whose model had been found in a used furniture store. Interpreting the concept of re-design at its best, Zanuso introduces with his project improvements to enhance the functional features and comfort of the seat. For the latter he proposes a very refined solution by covering the slats, originally made of sheet metal, with a noble and valuable material such as leather.
