Vintage Plia Chairs In Cane Fabric By Giancarlo Piretti For Anonima Castelli, 1970s, Set Of 4
Chairish$1,977
The Plia chair, designed by Giancarlo Pirretti and manufactured by Castelli, is a true design icon. Since its presentation at the Milan Furniture Fair in 1967, it has become a cult object, even being featured in MoMA's Radical Furniture exhibition as an example of "democratic design." The Plia chairs with rattan webbing are among the less frequently produced variations by Anonima Castelli in the 1960s and 70s. Unlike the polypropylene models, these versions required more artisanal manufacturing, which limited their production volume. Today, they are collector's items, highly valued for their combination of design and natural material. This set of four chairs features a steel and chrome frame in good condition with some signs of age. The seats and backrests show some marks or wear, as well as some missing webbing. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs, designer records, or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
