Late 18th Century Georgian Folding Gate-Leg Hall / Tea / Card / Games / Occasional Table In Mahogany With Extensive Classical Inlay Marquetry

Chairish

$4,995

A RARE bespoke Georgian Dutch Marquetry Corner Tea Table. Exceptional craftsmanship evident in the intricate fruit wood and satinwood inlays on solid, finely figured mahogany top of this unusual corner table. The unique double gate-leg allows for the triangular top to flip open and become a full size, square tea or games table. Within the straight running confines of the scorch-striped inlaid border of the top, flows elegant scroll-work and classical floral imagery surrounding a Greco-Roman revival vase flanked by two putti (cherubs). Dyed sycamore inlay lends further dimension with green and rose coloring. The interior surface is inlaid with further stunning floral marquetry in oval foliate medallions set into rich, deep mahogany that has clearly been protected from sun exposure over the years. Perfect for a myriad of uses, this table can be placed in a foyer, hall, game room, or anywhere you may fancy. Rich, original patina throughout. All four tapered legs are inlaid with a scrolling tulip motif. Dutch c. 1780 Dimensions: Open: 30.25" sq x 29"H Closed: 38.28"W x 19"D x 29.75"H
