Antique french hanging wall cast iron Lavabo, sink and water container. The lavabo holds and dispenses water and began use as a 18th European Catholic church religious item, used by the clergy before a service, after offertory Mass for ceremonial cleansing and hand washing. During the mid 19th century they were used in gardens of the upper class to supply water for hand washing and watering outdoors, slowly spreading to use by all classes by the late 19th, early 20th century. It has been painted. Sink is 18" W x 16.5" D. Tank is 22" H x 14.5" W x 6" D
