Hand-carved in the Gard region (a department in the South of France) during the 1900’s, this fountain mascaron spout depicts a heavily bearded man. The face, which has been carved in high relief, emanates from a 4 ½” thick rectangular block. There are traces of moss and lichen buildup, which has given the dark gray stone some areas of brownish-green pigmentation. The mouth of our French mascaron spout has been carved as an exit for a water feature that can be paired with a pool or fountain basin.
