This quaint fountain element or spout was produced in France about the 1920s. Known as a mascaron, the cast iron lion is depicted with an open mouth. An item such as this would typically be hung from a wall, with water cascading from the 1 ½” diameter opening. Surrounded by a detailed mane, the expressive lion has a dark brown hue, which has been updated more recently.
