Clean, captivating, and contemporary. The Charlie Linear Suspension from Mazzega 1946 is a shattering visual presenting a puzzle-like composition of c-shape-inspired glass pieces. It’s a piece by Carlo Nason, a MoMA included glass artist from Murano, Italy, showcasing his love for his hometown’s storied glass-making tradition with a modern design language. Here, Nason finds the balance between the retro and the contemporary. Hanging with an ultra-fine cord, the piece dashes overhead with an ultra-sleek metal crossbar. The shine of the metal accentuates the glass with crisp reflections. Handcrafted c-shaped glass elements hook together in strands to create a texture-rich shade. The array of lights under the crossbar shower the glass to create a highlight-rich, awe-inspiring display. Diffused by the glass, light flows out uniformly to glaze the table surface below.
