1970s Tobago Brutalist Walnut Headboard

Chairish

$595

A boldly graphic Brutalist headboard by Tobago, the celebrated Canadian furniture maker whose work is collected alongside Paul Evans and Philip Lloyd Powell. Marked "Made in Canada" — confirmed Tobago provenance. The headboard features the iconic Tobago checkered patchwork mosaic relief panels flanking a central walnut section — the same signature carved block motif that appears across Tobago's most collectible pieces. The sculptural dimensionality of the mosaic panels gives this piece a presence that photographs beautifully and commands attention in any bedroom. Compatible with full (52") and queen (58") bed frames — holes drilled for both sizes, offering flexibility for different bed configurations. Headboard only — no frame, mattress, or box spring included. Details: • Maker: Tobago (Canadian), marked "Made in Canada" • Era: circa 1960s–1970s • Style: Brutalist / Mid-Century Modern • Material: Walnut • Dimensions: 62"W × 43.5"H × 1.75"D • Compatibility: Full (52") and Queen (58") bed frames • Condition: Vintage — some dings in the wood consistent with age and use. Structurally sound. Please see photos for condition details. Pairs beautifully with the matching Tobago armoire and nightstands listed separately in my shop — a rare opportunity to acquire a complete Tobago bedroom suite.
