Vintage 1970, Walnut twin headboard from the George Nakashima Studio with the design and plank choice by George Nakashima. The graining is highly figured and there are two live edges. There is a signature butterfly stabilizing a fissure. The two ends are sawn at angle with the upper edge measuring 54". The height is 35". The plank headboard is supported by two vertical posts with a stretcher between. The posts are drilled to accept a bed frame.All the wood is solid walnut. It has the noted Nakashima oiled finish. The headboard also could be used for a backrest for a bench as we have doing and show in the last photo. The Powell bench is not included. This is a prime example of the Mid - century craft movement executed in the BUCKS COUNTY area of Pennsylvania by such artists as Harry Bertoia, Paul Evans, Phillip Lloyd Powell, Toshiko Takaezu. This came from an estate that had a number of George Nakashima pieces including a Conoid desk, bureaus and chairs. The pieces were all purchased direct from George and Marian Nakashima in 1970 &1971. We guarantee the authenticity and have the name of the original owners that will be provide to the buyer for authentication by the Nakashima Studio. This headboard is in excellent condition.
