Mid-Century Adjustable Dining Or Coffee Table In Nutwood Veneer And Chrome By Wilhelm Renz, 1975

Chairish

$1,433

This is an adjustable dining and coffee table, model WR 194, designed by J.M. Thomas in 1959 for the German company Wilhelm Renz. Wilhelm Renz was a company that produced the most sophisticated and minimalist mid-century furniture at the time. It has a timeless Nutwood veneer, likely walnut, and rests on a chrome-footed, black cast-iron steel base. The beautiful, light brown tabletop can be levered up and down and 'stopped' at any height between a low coffee table and a dining table. The hydraulic system makes adjusting the height easy. When the tabletop is folded to half its size, the beautifully designed chrome hinges come into action and the top is turned on its base (see images). It is a true 'transformer' to suit all occasions. Dimensions: Height flexible between approx. 22 inches (56 cm) at its lowest setting and 28.7 inches (73 cm) at its highest setting when folded open. When closed (rectangle): approx. 21.45 inches (54.5 cm). Tabletop open: Approx. 43.7 x 47.6 inches (111 x 121 cm) Tabletop closed: 43.7 (111 cm) x 23.8 (60.5 cm) approx.
