Part of ACOOCOORO’s Ceremonia special series, Copaleras (incense burners) create a play between their soft appearance, their ceremonial function and natural material: Yucatán Peninsula's Crema Maya stone. They suggest the presence of magical events, of an intimate ritual. They show evidence of a ritual’s emotional archeology: the burning of copal (aromatic resin) and fragrant herbs, used to purify the place where the act takes place, as well as its participants.The signs of time, history, and use are valuable for ACOOCOORO.
