Late 19th Century Chinese Celadon Figural Censer

Chairish

$440

Ru ware, originating from the Song Dynasty, is one of the "Five Great Kilns" of Chinese ceramics, celebrated for its subtle beauty and rarity. These pieces were produces for the imperial court and are characterized by the their distinctive "celadon" glaze, which ranges from a pale blue to a soft green. The glaze often features fine crackles, known as "craquelure," which are highly prized by collectors. The figures around the body of the vessel add an additional layer of artistic complexity, reflecting the cultural values and aesthetic preferences of the time. While genuine Ru ware is exceedingly rare and valuable, pieces inspired by this tradition continue to be appreciated for their craftsmanship and historical significance.
